Longboard Fin Screw and Plate #1 Alternative: Say Sayonara to Frustration, an Absolute Gamechanger

Imagine you’re on the beach, see the perfect set roll in, only to find yourself wrestling with a stubborn longboard fin screw and plate system. The frustration of aligning plates, tightening screws with a screwdriver, and ensuring everything is secure can be a buzzkill and I’ve had a few blood vessels burst out of frustration of dropping in my screw plate until I found the perfect alternative. Thanks to the pelican Finjak no longer do I have bursted blood vessels out of frustration. With its intuitive, tool-free design, the Finjak makes fin installation quick and easy, freeing you from the hassle and allowing you to focus on what really matters—enjoying your time in the water.

Tool-Free Bliss

The Finjak system allows surfers to install and remove fins without the need for tools. It replaces that traditional longboard fin screw and plate. It’s a lot bigger and easier to maneuver than dinky-sized longboard fin screw and plate This makes it convenient for quick fin changes on the beach or even mid surf – sesh (although I’ve never tried changing it in the ocean and don’t want to risk losing my finjak! 😱)
I have been using it over a year and a couple months on my CJ Nelson Outlier X Surfboard, and would 100% buy it again, it was worth the investment for being somewhat pricey and small, but how much easier it has made life.

Secure Locking Mechanism, with 1 BIG Consideration.

The Finjak system uses a unique locking mechanism that securely holds the fin in place. This ensures that the fin remains firmly attached even in challenging surf conditions. The most important thing to consider is, it is designed mostly for rear tabbed fins, (meaning the hole on your fin tab is on the backside of the fin). You can still use it for front tabbed fins, but it could knock out your fin if you have a really long fin or surf shallow reef breaks. If you do happen to run over your bud while surfing, having the fin pop out, might save him from a gashed leg though.

Looking a little cheapy, but surprisingly durable?

with the Pelican Finjak, and still holding up well.

Despite how it looks, and even feels, this longboard fin screw and plate alternative is made from hi-strength acetal resin, which falls into a group of thermoplastics which are known for their strength, stiffness, and rigidity. The pelican finjak for single fin boxes is built to withstand the rigors of surfing, including exposure to saltwater and UV rays.

The Benefits

Convenience:

The tool-free design makes it easy to swap out fins quickly, which is especially useful for surfers who like to adjust their fin setup frequently, or if you’re like me, who loads their 9’0″ longboard in their tiny sedan, and had to take out the fin each time during transport. The finjak makes it a whole lot easier, rather than the archaic longboard fin screw and plate system.

Quick Adjustability:
The system allows for quick adjustments in or out of the water for fin positioning, enabling surfers to fine-tune their setup for different waves and styles of surfing.

Versatility:

Flexible option for variety of different types of boards including bonzers, egg surfboards, mid lengths, 2+1, and single fin set ups.

Overall Surf Accessory Rating: 9.5/10
An absolute must – have for anyone who owns a board with a single fin and finds them changing their fins often, or does not like the hassle of the longboard fin screw and plate system!
