The Ride Experience

NOTE: I review surfboards on certain categories on a 10 point scale, which you’ll notice after certain words. Now let’s see, are torq surfboards good? πŸ€”

The Torq Mod Fun Surfboard paddled better than I thought, but not the best paddler compared to other boards. My shoulders were feeling it on those long paddle outs. Otherwise had a fantastic shoulder workout, for the longer paddle outs. 🀣 (Paddling 7.75)
The Torq Mod Fun surfboard, also felt like it rocked side to side while paddling and could even feel it shift from side to side while popping up too which took some getting used to, but still got into waves early. (Wave Entry 8) For drive, this board felt like it lacked a bit of drive to get past sections, and in smaller waves wasn’t the best at generating speed either (Speed 8). However, in waves with a bit more power, the V on the bottom, pushed you transition on to the rail easier, which in turn helped maintain speed better. This is the best thing about this board, it turned much better than I expected. With the decent amount of rocker reducing the rail line, along with the V that makes the board want to engage the rail, it made this board feel much shorter than it actually is. But given the bottom V, It also didn’t feel like the smoothest transitions and felt a little tweaky at times (Maneuverability 8.75)

Wave Range/Best in what conditions:

This board has smaller range of conditions compared to other boards I’ve tried. I would say it works best in waist to head high.
On the lower wave height it felt like it didn’t have enough speed and lacked drive, at the head high and above, the V on the bottom can feel tweaky.
It really need a specific wave with enough power to allow this board to unlock its best feature, its maneuverability, but when you did ride it in the 3-5 feet conditions, where the wave had some push it was a fun board.

Whose it For?

I would recommend this board for surf breaks where you don’t have to paddle too far out to, and for upper beginners and up. Mostly due to the bottom of this board making it more difficult to paddle, and trickier to pop up compared to other boards. (Otherwise you could size up to mitigate this. ) Also recommend this to people on a budget, but still want some pretty decent performance. The durability of this board also makes the it have pretty good resell value. Have you tried this surfboard? And what’d you think, are torq surfboards good?
